Summer Surfing Camp is an excellent way to start as a beginner or take your skills to the next level. We teach all ages, Youth, Teens and Adults, Girls, Boys, Moms and Dads. This is a family affair for us and we invite you to participate to your comfort level. We have soft top and bottom with rubber fins surfboards sized for you and also boogie boards available for the very timid who are learning about catching waves for the first time. We have safely and successfully taught boys and girls as young as 6 (if they are very motivated) and as old as 60. The safety information and wave knowledge we teach is unique to our camp. Many of the instructional techniques and language have been developed over many years of acutal experience in the surf teaching and observing with a teacher's eye. It is one thing to be able to surf, but knowing how to language the techniques is a special skill.

Coaching for Competition
Crystal South Surf Camp offers these programs year round if you have the proper wetsuit for the water temperature. The water is not as frigid although you may need a wetsuit (full or spring) for part of this season. There are wetsuit rentals available, if you do not own your own suit. We take begining surfers to the next level with Advanced Wave Riding and Coaching for Competition. During the Winter monrths we schedule Surfing Vacations to warm tropical climates where the water is warm and the surf is consistent. With a proven track record, (see COMPETITION RESULTS) featuring our own children showing other kids exactly how to surf. East Coast Wahines
COME JOIN US and watch more than 200 girls and women have fun surfing. Airlie, Leilani and Jo Pickett as well as many of our students will be competing. Contest site is where we teach, south of the Oceanic Pier at Wrightsville Beach.

A word about surfboards: Sometimes your surfboard is not appropriate for you for learning i.e. a High Performance Shape or is too dangerous with sharp edges, fins and open fiberglass holes. (a High Performance shape is great when you know how to use it but will slow you down learning basic skills like catching the wave and standing up. If you already know how to surf then we will take you to the next level. If not, we will take you to the level where you can use it. ) Unless your board is appropriate, we will require you to use one of our boards for safety reasons. Most of our boards are soft top and bottom with rubber fins. Safe and effective, Surfing Safety First.
